Lifetime Furniture Company 12 piece dining room set, Puritan Line.
Original Lifetime Furniture Company "Puritan Line" 12 piece dining set including table with five leaves, 6 side chairs, 2 arm chairs, sideboard, mirror and china cabinet, circa 1918. A rare opportunity to purchase a complete Arts & Crafts dining set. They seldom appear on the market and frequently are split up between different buyers. We prefer to offer the set as a group initially, after a reasonable time, we will offer the pieces individually. Feel free to contact us to get on our list for an individual piece if we happen to split the set up. The dining table & chairs will remain together. Professionally refinished years ago, otherwise in excellent condition. Each piece is signed with the firms paper label. Measurements: Table 54" diameter, opens to 9 feet with all five leaves. 30" high. Sideboard: 48" wide x 39 1/2" high x 20 1/2" deep. China cabinet: 67 1/2" high x 40" wide x 14 1/2" deep Following is a quote from the reprint of the original circa 1918 Puritan Furniture catalogue reprinted by Peter Copeland, The Parchment Press:"As in other things it is not always the most elaborate furniture that is the most satisfying---at times, quite the reverse is the case. Puritan Furniture lends itself to the simple harmony and comfort which in the home is more to be desired than highly decorative effects. PURITAN Furniture is extremely sturdy yet light enough to be easily handled. It is designed with sufficient curved lines to relieve that extreme stiffness so characteristic of the Mission type — the edges are so nicely and carefully rounded that they lend a softness and appeal to an otherwise plain style and a glance will determine the ease with which this furniture can be cared for. THE wood used is our native oak, one of the most beautiful and valuable cabinet woods in existence. No other cabinet wood can be compared with oak in strength and durability and the beautiful quartered figure would make it as valuable as the choicest mahogany if it were less plentiful. PURITAN Furniture, as it's name implies, is plain, honest, loveable furniture with character in every line. Selection from this comprehensive group will delight both dealer and consumer."
